Why We Built This
TestMyTyping.com was built by a business owner with a simple problem: testing employees' typing skills quickly, privately, and without paying for expensive software. We needed a typing test that could be used from any location, that didn't require handing over confidential company information to a third party, and that worked for everyone applying for the same position.
The answer was to build it ourselves. We put the test online, made it public, and realized immediately that millions of other people had the exact same need - job seekers wanting to know where they stood, students preparing for clerical exams, businesses screening applicants without a budget for commercial testing software.
That was 2009. The site is still here, still free, and still growing.
What We Stand For
Always Free
The typing test has always been free and will remain free. No premium tier. No "basic vs. pro" results. No upselling. You take the test, you see your score.
No Data Collection
We don't ask for your email address. We don't require you to create an account. We don't sell contact information to advertisers. Your test results appear on screen and go nowhere else.
Instant Results
We've seen sites that collect your email address and "send you your results" - which means selling your contact information to mass mailers. That has never been how this site works, and it never will be.
Free for Businesses Too
We've never charged businesses to use TestMyTyping.com for screening applicants. Built-in verification helps ensure results aren't falsified. Use it freely - that's what it's here for.
Built for Practice, Preparation, and Skill Growth
TestMyTyping.com is meant to be useful, straightforward, and easy to return to. Whether you're practicing for a hiring test, improving daily keyboard speed, or teaching students, the goal is the same: clear tools and useful guidance without clutter.
Here's what this site focuses on:
- ✓ Typing tests - quick, private skill checks for speed and accuracy
- → 10 Key practice - help for data-entry and keypad-heavy work
- → Typing lessons - posture, finger placement, and steady improvement
- → Typing games - practice that feels less repetitive and more engaging
- → Job-focused guidance - practical help for applicants preparing for typing-based roles
Feedback & Suggestions
We built this site based on feedback from users - and that's still how it evolves. If you have a suggestion, a problem to report, or a question about using the site for your organization or classroom, we'd genuinely like to hear it.
The best way to reach us is through the contact information on file with the domain. We read everything, even if response times vary. (help@testmytyping.com)
