What Happens When You Type
Every test and lesson on this site runs inside your browser. The page loads once, then the typing, the timer, and the scoring all happen on your screen. What you type is never sent anywhere. There is nothing on our end to send it to: the site is a set of plain pages with no database and no user accounts.
You can check this in about thirty seconds. Press F12 to open your browser's developer tools, click the Network tab, and take a test. Nothing you type shows up in any request, because no request carries it.
What Gets Stored, and Where
On our side: nothing. We could not keep your results if we wanted to, because they never reach us.
In your browser, two things can be saved, and both stay on your device:
- Typing tutor progress. Finished lessons, stars, and per-key stats save in your browser's local storage so you can pick up where you left off. This data never leaves the browser. The tutor's Start over button erases it, and so does clearing your browser data.
- The optional name on the printable result card. If you add a name for a printout, the page reads it at print time and forgets it. It is not saved and not transmitted.
We set no cookies at all.
The One Thing We Count
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits. It is the cookieless kind. It tells us totals, like how many people loaded the typing test this week, without building a profile of anyone. It does not follow you to other sites, and it cannot see what you type. That beacon is the only measurement on this site. There is no ad network, no social media pixel, and no third-party tracker.
The pages themselves are served by Cloudflare, the same way any host serves any website. Loading a page is a normal web request. Typing happens after the page has loaded, and it stays on the page.
How Verify Codes Work
A verify code is not a receipt we keep. The code itself is the data: speed, accuracy, test length, date, and keyboard type, packed into a short string of letters. The verify page decodes it right in the browser. There is no lookup and no record on our end, which also means a code cannot be pulled up, edited, or deleted later. The code in your hand is the only copy.
Using This Site With Students or Applicants
We never ask for names, emails, or rosters, so there is no student data here to collect or protect. A class link contains the test settings (the passage and the length) and nothing about any student. Scores come back to you the way the typist chooses to share them: a printout, a copied result, or a verify code. The optional name on a printout stays on the device it was typed on.
If your district needs a privacy document before approving the site, this page is the whole policy. It is short because there is not much to govern: no accounts, no collection, no sharing.
The Short List
- Sell or share your data. There is none to sell.
- Show ads, or run ad trackers of any kind.
- Ask for an email address, or send email.
- Store what you type, on any server, ever.
